Our story
Why vintage, why now
I'm John. IT by trade, but I've loved Halloween for as long as I can remember.
Some of my best memories are simple ones. My grandma's house always had the best decorations on the block, and she made sure I never went trick-or-treating in anything less than the coolest costume she could find. I grew up in Humboldt Park, and every year we'd head out to the suburbs to trick-or-treat. I can still remember what the air smelled like that time of year, and Thriller playing out of somebody's garage on practically every block.
My wife loves this season just as much as I do, so we started doing something for fun, hitting estate sales, antique malls, and thrift stores together, hunting for the coolest vintage Halloween stuff we could find. Die-cuts, chalkware, blow molds. The kind of stuff that actually looks like the Halloween we grew up with.
Attic & Ember is us sharing that with you. Some of it's genuinely vintage, found piece by piece. Some of it's an honest reproduction of a design we couldn't leave in the past. The candles we make ourselves. Everything's labeled for what it actually is, because if I were buying it, I'd want to know too.
